{"id":205,"date":"2023-10-04T16:15:48","date_gmt":"2023-10-04T14:15:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/turismoserraniacuenca.com\/?post_type=citadela-item&#038;p=205"},"modified":"2024-05-29T12:54:11","modified_gmt":"2024-05-29T10:54:11","slug":"pr-cu-41-sendero-de-la-fuente-del-gallo","status":"publish","type":"citadela-item","link":"https:\/\/turismoserraniacuenca.com\/en\/item\/pr-cu-41-sendero-de-la-fuente-del-gallo\/","title":{"rendered":"PR-CU 41 \u2013 Fuente del Gallo Trail"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Gallo Fountain Trail<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let&#039;s start our journey from the village of<strong> Villar de Domingo Garcia<\/strong>, specifically we are heading to the magical environment of the <strong>Hermitage of Santa Ana<\/strong>, close to the enigmatic <strong>Rebillillo Caves, some of which are still used for the production and aging of regional wines.<\/strong> We begin our route along a wide track that, further on, turns northeast to enter the old Camino de la Sierra. Along this path, we will find dry crop fields and wasteland adorned with fragrant aromatic plants and shrubs that color the landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At a strategic point, we find a new crossing, where we can choose to follow the variant of <strong>short tour<\/strong>, which will take us through a lush forest of pines and holm oaks. On our way, we find vestiges of <strong>old cattle sheds<\/strong> who used to take advantage of natural shelters and cavities in the ground. The Fuente del Gallo, although somewhat distant from its original source, continues to provide its crystal-clear waters for the consumption of the population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Hermitage of Saint Thomas<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our journey challenges us with a <strong>steep climb<\/strong> along a track surrounded by a lush pine forest as we approach <strong>Serranos Head<\/strong>. As we descend down the other side of the hill, the thickness of the forest begins to dissipate, and we finally reach the <strong>Hermitage of Saint Thomas<\/strong>Near the town, the dryland crop fields accompany us, and we leave aside the detour that would take us along the short-route variant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. What is the best time to do this route?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spring and autumn are the ideal seasons to take this route, since the weather is pleasant and the landscapes offer a variety of colors and wildlife. However, any time of year offers its own beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Is it recommended to bring special equipment for this route?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is recommended to bring comfortable walking shoes, water, sunscreen and, in winter, warm clothing.
