This karst corner is a true natural treasure, where erosion processes have sculpted an unparalleled environment that deserves to be explored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Tormagal of Masegosa<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La Muela Pinilla y del Puntal, with an area of 641 hectares, is surrounded by dolomites and calcareous rocks with a high magnesium content, which have given rise to an impressive ruiniform relief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This geological phenomenon is known in the region as <strong>&quot;The Tormagal&quot;<\/strong> due to the abundance of torms, those unique rock structures that give the terrain its name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Discovering a Karst Labyrinth<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La Muela Pinilla y del Puntal introduces us to a world of karstification, where you can marvel at a <strong>diversity of geological formations. These training<\/strong>&nbsp;including arches, alleys, sinkholes and lapiaces. This place is a true natural museum of unique geological processes that defy the imagination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Interpretive Trail<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To access this natural jewel, take the CM-2201 highway from Beteta to Masegosa and continue approximately 8 kilometers in the direction of Peralejos de las Truchas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From Peralejos de las Truchas, follow the CM-2106 road towards Vega del Codorno, and at kilometer point 78, you will find a parking lot that marks the<a href=\"https:\/\/turismoserraniacuenca.com\/en\/item\/sendero-interpretativo-muela-pinilla-y-del-puntal\/\"> beginning of the interpretive trail.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Formation of the Tooth<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La Muela Pinilla y del Puntal is characterized by being a high, flat terrain delimited by pronounced escarpments, <strong>what is known as a &quot;grinding wheel.&quot;<\/strong>  Its formation is due to differential erosion processes, with more resistant rocks in the highest areas and softer and more erodible rocks in the lower strata.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Gamonal Viewpoint<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The interpretive trail will take you to the most representative places in the region, including the <strong>Gamonal Viewpoint<\/strong>, which offers panoramic views of the <a href=\"https:\/\/alto-tajo.com\/es\/item\/rg-pnat-10-ruta-del-barranco-del-horcajo\/\">Belvalle estate and the Barranco del Horcajo in the Alto Tajo.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From here, you will also be able to appreciate the process of formation of a storm, which is the result of intense erosion at the base of the rocks, creating rock formations with a characteristic &quot;mushroom&quot; shape at the top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Biodiversity in La Muela<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Along the route, you will enter a <strong>lush Scots pine forest<\/strong>, accompanied by a border of thorny bushes such as barberry, guillomo, hawthorn, common juniper and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the cracks, cavities and ledges of the limestone rock, you will find a <strong>rock community<\/strong> calcicola with notable species such as the snapdragon (Antirrhinum pulverulentum), the maidenhair (Asplenium fontanum), the doradilla (Ceterach officinarum), the stag&#039;s tongue (Asplenium scolopendrium) and five-on-a-branch (Potentilla caulescens).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Berrea Scenario<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La Muela Pinilla is a diverse habitat and, as it could not be otherwise, the setting for the Berrea. A natural spectacle that marks the deer mating season.
