A Unique Karst Landscape

The Lagunaseca Torcas are large circular sinkholes, formed by the dissolution of limestone in the lower layers of the ground. Unlike the Torcas de los Palancares, which are more closed and rounded, those of Lagunaseca are located in a most advanced process of erosion and evolution.

This is reflected in its less pronounced walls, the presence of uvalas and poljés (wider depressions), and a smaller extension of the Natural Monument, which occupies 188.42 hectares.

With diameters ranging from 30 to 500 metersThese sinkholes seem to have been created by the fall of enormous meteorites. However, their origin is found in water erosion, giving rise to a textbook karst landscape.
