GR-66 Castilla-La Mancha Trail: An Epic Journey Through Castilla-La Mancha with Described Stages

Embark on an epic journey through the heart of Castilla-La Mancha along the GR-66 Sendero Castellano-Manchego. Tour more than 600 km (of which 140 km are signposted in the province of Cuenca) through stunning scenery, crossing Guadalajara, Cuenca and Albacete.

The GR-66 invites you to discover a world of contrasts, where gorges carve their way between imposing limestone cliffs, sinkholes hide in the terrain and rivers meander through lush valleys.

Stages for an Unforgettable Journey

The GR-66 in Cuenca is divided into 3 stages:

  • Stage 1: Peralejos de las Truchas – Masegosa

It starts in the Martinete Bridge, in the Alto Tajo canyon, near the town of Peralejos de las Truchas. It goes up to the high mountain lands, passing through the Horcajo ravine and the Alto del Rabadán. It reaches Iron Cave and continues to Masegosa, crossing the Guadiela River near its source.

  • Stage 2: Masegosa – Vega del Codorno

It goes down from the Masegosa plateau to the Great Lagoon of El Tobar. Visit the Torcas de Lagunaseca Natural Monument. Arrive at Saint Mary of the Valley, on the banks of the Cuervo River. It goes up the Cuervo River to the Vega del Codorno.

  • Stage 3: Vega del Codorno – Tragacete

Go up the Las Vaquerizas stream to the refuge of the same name. Reach the top of Los Vasallos, connecting with the Royal Cañada from Tragacete to the Alcudia Valley. Enjoy spectacular views from the high areas. Descend along a winding path to Tragacete.

GR-66 A Trail for Adventurers
