Cueva de la Ramera and Cueva del Armentero Trail

Discover an underground world and amazing landscapes

This exciting tour through an “enchanted forest” will take you through stunning landscapes. From the Tilos dam, you will head towards the stairs of the Cueva de la Ramera, a cavity of great archaeological value located 20 meters high, which served as a refuge for livestock and was inhabited from the Neolithic until approximately 400 years ago.

A 4.53 km adventure (round trip)

The trail begins near the Fountain of the Linden Trees and allows you to explore the Tilos dam, the Cueva de la Ramera and Cueva del Armentero. Although the last section of the trail presents a significant slope, the route offers a Spectacular view from the Beteta Viewpoint, which marks the end of the trail and gives you a stunning view of one of the most beautiful anticlines in the Iberian system.

Starting point

Since the Parking in the Fuente de los Tilos recreational area is limited, we recommend parking in the Prairie House recreational area, where parking availability is much greater. From there, you can descend along the botanical trail until you reach the Fuente de los Tilos, where your exciting tour begins.

Impressive walk through the Beteta Sickle

This route, practically flat, allows you to enjoy the beautiful atlantic vegetation of the region, with linden trees, hazel trees, mustache trees, holly trees and yew trees, which are usually rare in these latitudes. In addition, you will be able to observe the majestic vultures while you follow the bed of the Guadiela River.

Panoramic ascent

The final ascent to the viewpoint, although only with a 250 m elevation gain in less than 1 km, will reward you with impressive views. The effort will be worth it when you reach the Mirador de la Hoz de Beteta, located in one of the highest parts of the route.

A linear route

Due to the confinement of the area, this trail is linear, which means that it cannot be done in a circular way. However, every step of the way will offer you new views and a unique experience in the Hoz de Beteta. Venture to explore this underground world and amazing landscapes!
