Dinosaur Route Interpretation Center in Fuentes
Discover the Lo Hueco Site

Discover the Cretaceous Basin
Fuentes, a small town in the Middle Mountains, is known, in addition to its rich architectural heritage, for the “Lo Hueco” site, belonging to the Upper Cretaceous. Mandatory stop at the well-known Cuenca Dinosaur Route. To explain the value of this site in a simple way, (one of the most important in Europe, which was found in the works of the Madrid-Cuenca-Valencia AVE), there is the Dinosaur Route interpretation center. Located in the old town hall building, it has two rooms with replicas of the numerous discoveries. It also has an audiovisual room.
The Lo Hueco Site
This site is located just 15 kilometers from Cuenca capital, and represents an important discovery, since approximately 8,000 fossils of different prehistoric animals have been recovered from it that help us understand a path of about 70 million years.
According to official schedules, this interpretation center is supposed to be open on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays and long weekends, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., but unfortunately this information is incorrect. Since some years, The Dinosaur Route Interpretation Center in Fuentes remains closed and although the schedules and tourist pages encourage us to visit it, it will not be possible. Unfortunately we cannot inform you that there will be a next opening, we will continue waiting. If you wish, you can call the Cuenca tourist office and ask if they have any new information.
