Exploring the Fuertescusa Trail

The Fuertescusa trail is an exciting adventure that will take you through the natural beauty of this region. Starting in the lower part of Fuertescusa, next to a beautiful fountain and a wash house, follow these steps to enjoy an unforgettable experience.

Start at the Fuente de Fuertescusa

Your journey begins at the fountain and washhouse below Fuertescusa. From here, head east, leaving the village along the Camino de la Dehesa. This initial section is common both for the outward and return journey.

The Strikes and the Election

When you reach Las Huelgas, you will be faced with an important decision. You can choose to turn left and enter the deep valley of the Arroyo del Peral or go right in search of the Fuente de la Dehesa and Valdezancau.

Option 1: Peral Stream

If you decide go up the Peral Stream, you will enjoy a gentle climb over more than 4 kilometers, following the course of the river and surrounded by lush vegetation. The path moves away from the river and climbs steep slopes, passing places of interest such as the Marimingo fountain and reaching Las Modorras. From here, the path follows the ridges of the mountain range, offering spectacular views of the Escabas river valley and the Dehesa.

Option 2: Dehesa Fountain and Valdezancau

If you prefer the alternative to the right, you will be able to visit the Fuente de la Dehesa and Valdezancau. Afterwards, you will return to Las Huelgas and finally to the town.

Variation: Connection via a Forest Track

The trail also offers a variant that connects Fuente de la Dehesa with Las Modorras via a forest track. Although this variant will not allow you to enjoy the sound of the water or the crystal-clear pools of the Arroyo del Peral, it can be an excellent option, especially if the flow of the stream prevents you from passing. In addition, using this variant makes the rest of the trail suitable for bicycles, since we will avoid the section that runs along the Arroyo del Peral.
